The Urban Elephant Festival celebrates art, music, and dance under the 'World on One Street' theme, honouring the multicultural communities shaping the area. The three-day celebration includes Latin dance, global music, and world food, street art and performances.
Urban Elephant 2023-15-17 Sep: Friday launch event-Castle Square 3-9 pm (15 Sep)-World Fusion: (1) This will see a temporary stage and PA system erected in Castle Square working in partnership with the Castle Square team and W communications. We will work with Xiomara and the Latin community to create an opening event which will highlight local Latin-Based groups who will showcase Latin, dance, music, and performance. We will also incorporate other guest performers from across the Globe to represent the diversity of the Elephant and its community and create a World Fusion! Saturday-World on One Street 12-6 pm (16 Sep): (1) This will see 4 locations animated with a variety of street-based performances with dance, music, drama and art. The 4 locations and hubs of the festival are: * Castle Square. * Elephant Park. * Sayer Street. * Walworth Square. (2) A map and schedule will be created for each of the 4 key pitches, and this will be printed onto a free festival TOTE bag which will be created for the festival. (3) Performers will be allocated performance slots and will move around the street-based festival pitches. Sunday-World Forum Event 1-3 pm (Tree House Elephant Park-17 Sep): A forum where 30 local partners, councillors and representatives from our diverse communities will discuss how we can make connections within the community via art and creativity.
