We Are Here

A collaboration between product design studio Tiipoi’s founder Spandana Gopal, architecture curator and educator Manijeh Verghese and writer and editor Debika Ray, We Are Here has evolved from Tiipoi Talks, a series of events held in recent years at venues significant to various diasporic communities in London. Its mission is to enliven and activate non-institutional cultural spaces, widen access to conversations about design and culture, and provide a platform to migrant perspectives and other people whose voices are often ignored in the process of shaping our collective futures. Its inaugural afternoon event at the Rio Cinema in Dalston will feature work by artist Chila Kumari Burman, who installed the Winter Commission outside Tate Britain in 2020; Sound Advice, which explores spatial practice through music, and cinematic programming platform Supakino.
