Emily’s ceramic practice speaks about durability at a time when most goods are disposable and integrity of process instead of focusing on surface impressions. Inspired by the authenticity and craftsmanship involved in the production of Encaustic Tiles in the UK, Emily has been investigating process and is interested in their associations to industrialism and heritage. Emily has been developing a process of tile-making which involves two layers of pattern, the second layer only revealing through natural wear in time to come.
