Concieved and Managed by Creative Consultancy Raw Nerve http://www.raw-nerve.co.uk and designed by London-based designers Studio Myerscough The Deptford Project is much more than a revitalised railway carriage turned bistro. The Deptford Project also acts as a creative headquarters and catalyst to celebrate the creative minds of SE8 in terms of art, music, performance & design. It is a symbol of what Deptford is, was and will be in stylised, graffiti clad splendour. Its positioning on the site of London’s first suburban railway station, marks the site as one of historical importance whilst the carriage body, covered in poignant lyrics reflects a sensitivity to the ebb and flow of changing times and a recognition of Deptford's community spirit at the heart of all it creates.
The Deptford Project is also about its weekend creative industries market with art, design, music and film projects taking place in the months to come. In 2010 work will then begin to create a new and important public piazza and a new residential building, designed by Richard Rogers. The Grade II listed carriage ramp – the long listed building in the UK, will also be restored and connected back to the railway line as it was when it was built as the first suburban railway station in London in 1836. http://www.thedeptfordproject.com
