Architecture, interior design and product design studio that uses natural materials to reinterpret familiar objects

Autoban is an Istanbul-based architecture, interior design and product design studio, founded by Seyhan Özdemir (architect) and Sefer Çaglar (interior architect) in the historic and bohemian district of Galata in 2003. Autoban is highly influenced by nature, the rituals of daily life, and the diversity of Istanbul, playfully reinterpreting the familiar through modern forms and contrasting materials. Select designs from the acclaimed Autoban portfolio are manufactured by the expert craftsmen at De La Espada. Autoban was named “Best Young Designers” by Wallpaper magazine in 2004, “Best Newcomer” by Blueprint magazine at 100% Design 2005, their interior design for Istanbul restaurant Müzedechanga was awarded “Best Restaurant” by Wallpaper magazine in 2006, and their design for Witt Istanbul Suites was listed on the Conde Nast Traveller Hot List 2009. ‘It’s not an overstatement to say they’re Turkey’s foremost arbiters of taste’, Wallpaper* magazine.
