Ørgreen Playground: Skyline Edition

World-renowned eyewear design firm Ørgreen has joined forces with exclusive furniture brand Republic of Fritz Hansen™ to produce a series of Arne Jacobsen Swan™ chairs that feature the same Copenhagen skyline design as a special edition collection of eyewear by Ørgreen.

For anyone tuned into fashion, Ørgreen eyewear is the ultimate must-have accessory. Drawing on architecture, art and classic American cars as its design departure point, Ørgreen is famous for its streamlined styles, creative colour combinations and precision engineering.

With the launch of their limited edition København sunglasses range, they take eyewear to new heights with Copenhagen's beautiful skyline as a fine laser cut detail along the temples of the frame. The Swan™ chair, designed by the legendary Danish architect Arne Jacobsen in 1958, will also carry the same design as an elegant detail stitched on the wool front of the chair and classic full leather back

The Swan chair, manufactured by Fritz Hansen since 1958, is one of Jacobsen’s many designs recognised worldwide for its purity, simplicity and timeless appeal as a contemporary classic.

Merging of a mutual mindset

The collaboration sees the bringing together of two brands renowned for their creativity, high quality and craftsmanship. Through this partnership, it is the similar design values between Ørgreen and Arne Jacobsen that are believed to be especially expressed through one of the world's most iconic designs.

The København frames use balanced yet unpredictable colours in 5 duo-toned variants reflecting Ørgreen’s signature approach to shades and shapes. The Swan chair, styled by Ørgreen, consists of the same 5 carefully chosen tones in wool for the front of the chairs, each with black leather on the back. The partnering of two different materials, in this case wool and leather – is a first for the Swan chair.

Of course, it’s no accident that the Copenhagen skyline conjures up associations with a heartbeat. For Ørgreen, this represents the life and soul of its global headquarters. This collaboration, referred to as the Skyline Edition, marks a new addition to the Ørgreen Playground. The first was an exhibition partnered with Artsee for New York Design Week in 2009.
