Craft is a major player at London Design Festival this September and Cockpit Arts' designer-makers are out in full force! In addition to the main Cockpit Trail exciting fringe events starring Cockpit makers will be dotted around London this September. To kick off - visit jewellers Angie Boothroyd, Hannah Bedford, Beth Gilmour, Rachel Galley and Tamara Gomez at IJL (International Jewellery London) at Earls Court from 5-8 September.
Angie Boothroyd's sumptuous handmade jewellery has become a favourite among Cockpit regulars and is showcased in prestigious galleries the world over from Electrum in London to Aaron Faber in New York. Her 'Wildflower' collection features shimmering multicoloured tourmalines nestled within lustrous textured 'leaves' of high-carat golds. www.angieboothroyd.com [4]
Hannah Bedford signature style is fine gold and silver clusters, which creep over surfaces and entwine her work, creating ranges of highly wearable jewellery. The traditional processes of granulation, reticulation and Keum-boo (fine gold fusing) employed by Hannah inspire her collections. www.hannahbedford.co.uk [5]
The signature technique of Beth Gilmour's jewellery is the casting of intricate textures on to the surfaces precious metals, using materials like fibre-glass. Many pieces including rings are one-offs. Commissions are welcome. www.bethgilmour.com [6]
Rachel Galley's designs are stylish, interactive and fun to wear, containing hidden treasures which excite the senses. She will be launching her tribal inspired 'Enkai' collection at IJL this year. www.rachelgalley.com [7]
Sri-Lankan born Tamara Gomez's work is elegant and enduring in style and intuitive by design.Tamara uses a variety of gemstones in her work often from her native Sri-Lanka including pink sapphires and kyanite. Rough diamonds are often used for interest and colour, combined with sterling silver and different carats of gold. www.tamaragomez.com [8]
