Madejski Garden, V&A

2010 | Polish designer Oskar Zieta created a large-scale installation in in the V&A's John Madejski Garden using a technique developed by Zita's company Prozessdesign which uses compressed air to inflate steel. FiDU technology process means that two shapes cut from steel sheets are welded along their edges and then inflated under high pressure into a 3D object. The V&A's installation was designed to demonstrate the flexibility of FiDU technology. Zieta is best known for his Plopp stool created using the FiDU technique in which, as Zieta says, "material shows us its real structure".

Looping gracefully across the fountail, the high gloss steel of the installation reflected the shape of the stairs leading to the garden's pool.
