Mayfair is fast emerging as the leading destination for contemporary and collectable design in London. The past few years have seen a steady increase in the focus towards design of the existing galleries and auction houses, as well as the opening of new spaces which enhance the design-centered character of the area.

As part of The London Design Festival, Mayfair Design District organised a series of exhibitions, openings installations and performances with the objective of nurturing and cultivating the creative disciplines still found in this thriving community; in addition to contemporary design, Mayfair still boasts to this day practioners with an illustrious creative heritage, including cordwainers , milliners, jewellers and cabinet makers to name just a few. The Mayfair Design District partners for 2017 included Achille Salvagni Atelier, Carpenters Workshop Gallery, Mazzoleni, Galerie Kreo, Gallery Fumi, Privekollektie, The New Craftsmen, Front Rugs, Holly Hunt and Christian Liaigre.

With exhibitions from established galleries and within pop-up spaces, international collaborations and a real focus on quality and craftsmanship, the inauguration of Mayfair Design District at London Design Festival 2017 showed how this once traditional enclave is evolving with the times. The Italians and French have moved in on Mayfair in force, with Achille Salvagni, Mazzoleni, Matter of Stuff and Alessi showcasing world renowned Italian design talent, whilst Carpenters Workshop Gallery, Galerie kreo, Christian Liaigre and Patrick Seguin wave the Gallic flag reflecting the diverse cultural influences found in this great city.
