Islington Design District

Late night opening: Tuesday

The Islington Design District is a walkable trail bridging design locations on Amwell Street south of Angel, through to Camden Passage and along Upper Street with SMUG at it's hub. Visitors discovered new designers, special product launches and one-off exhibitions and events.

The Islington Design District returned for its fifth year, bringing together a growing collection of independent design-led shops, showrooms and eateries in the Islington area. Spearheaded by lifestyle store SMUG on Camden Passage, the IDD celebrated great design with big names and long standing Islington design favourites such as Aria and twentytwentyone.

The district also proudly highlighted design-led stores who knew just how to curate their comparatively small in-store footprint and boast huge online cult followings. No one did this better than stationery purveyor, Present and Correct.

In 2017, the district released their first podcast series. SMUG founder Lizzie Evans interviewed friends and peers in the entrepreneurial design world to talk about their career journeys, design passions and projects with a focus on how to stay inspired and deal with work life balance.
