Vitsœ partners with Posman Books

When celebrated New York bookshop Posman Books approached Vitsœ to help with reinventing their Chelsea Market space, we worked directly with the architect to extensively remodel the shop. The result was a sizable children’s section, a versatile event space and a smart, yet adaptable, environment.

The project was not without obstacles to overcome. “Notable challenges were placing the long children’s area system on a wall with built-in-millwork reading cubbies and developing an art-paper display system,” explains Vitsœ planner Daniel Erikson. “Throughout the process, several visits were made to the site, during the planning, demolition, construction and installation phases.”

Posman Books is independent and family-owned. The Posman family has been in the business of selling books for over 30 years and is embracing the changing landscape of book-reading in the electronic age recognizing, like we at Vitsœ do, that the human being still has a place in retail.

“The shelving system is now installed and looking great, and Posman is doing record foot traffic for that space,” says Daniel.

The team at Posman has been sufficiently impressed with the results at their Chelsea Market outpost that Vitsœ has been selected as the chief merchandising system for all new projects. Watchful eyes will soon see our shelving system at new Posman shops around the city.
