Papiers Extraordinaires

Follow Cockpits' 25th Birthday Trail to East London and enjoy a cup of coffee whist you take in an exhibition of extraordinary poetic paper structures by jeweller and paper artist Clara Breen at Dose Espresso café.

By turning overlooked pieces of paper into colourful artworks, Clara plays with the notion of preciousness and reinterprets the keepsake. Reclaimed maps and film posters are sliced, layered and painted: The resulting structures are at once evocative, decorative and intricate. Clara holds tight to the emotional power of memory and weaves it into her work, explaining: "We often keep hold of train tickets, maps and photographs to remind ourselves of a past experience."

Situated near the bustling Smithfield Market and Barbican tube station, Dose espresso is an owner-operated artisan espresso bar.
