Matteo Fogale and Laetitia de Allegri are pleased to launch their first time collaboration with -ISH, a collection of furniture and products at Herrick Gallery for The London Design Festival 2014.

Matteo Fogale and Laetitia de Allegri are joining forces for the first time with -ISH a show exploring the perception of materials and their properties. A collection of pieces emphasising the illusion and beauty of stone-like materials entirely made from recycled and reclaimed post-industrial waste. Taking place at the Herrick Gallery, the exhibition will showcase the result of this new collaboration expressing the common interest in sustainable sources and new aesthetics on design. In partnership with Slate-ish, material made in the US from recycled paper-laminate and Iris Industries, specialising in sustainable composites using bio- based components blended with materials like denim and cotton waste.

‘We are interested to work with materials that help preserve our environment with elegance and cleverness. Our challenge is to design furniture and accessories around those materials trying to push the boundaries of each of them. We also love the poetic aspect that is behind this materials and their traditional source of inspiration’.
Iris Industries specialises in the development and commercialisation of sustainable composites using bio- based components blended with recycled and reclaimed materials. ‘Slate-ish’ is a material that resembles stone, but is made in the US from recycled and reclaimed sources of paper-laminate. ‘Denimite’ is made from post-consumer and post-industrial denim scrap. Every piece is unique, this a cotton fibre bio-composite that is highly moldable, lightweight and tough, with no offgassing of toxic chemicals. ‘Marblus’ is made from white cotton/polyester post-industrial scrap. This fabric is used for sheets, clothing, and various other fabric products. The combination of fabrics give a wonderful blue/gray tone mixed with white, looking much like Carrara Marble.
The show will take place at the Herrick Gallery in Shoreditch, launched in June 2012 to exhibit and promote art in all media and play host to a series of delightful and provocative events. Drawing inspiration from the part domestic, part public gallery environments this artist-run gallery seeks to provide a friendly space in which to contemplate exquisitely presented artworks.
