Design & storytelling to save lives: Supporting 3/11 Tsunami Photo Project iPad and iPhone apps

"Whatever is to become of books?" event at University College London on 17th September supports innovative 3/11 Tsunami Photo Project.

In March this year, fourteen international photographers have rallied together to release 3/11 Tsunami Photo Project, a digital reportage app available for iPads and iPhones on iTunes to raise fund for the Japan quake victims. All proceeds will be donated to the Japan Red Cross.

Zarina Holmes, creative director of Sojournposse said: "Last year, Sojournposse asked a question aimed at photojournalists and storytellers at the London Design Festival ,”Can aesthetics heal a wounded society?” (Aesthetics as a Mean To Heal, Sept 2010). What is the point of privileging images of suffering for the sake of winning awards. Why not use them to help heal the society?."

"The 3/11 Tsunami Photo Project answers that question. Aesthetics can help the process of healing a wounded society. Perhaps this effort will pioneer a new way for sustainable photojournalism and storytelling."

Sojounposse Multimedia, a collective of photographers, designers and journalists, have decided to support of the innovative 3/11 Tsunami Photo Project at London Design Festival, to help the victims of the Japanese quake in March 2011. You can purchase the iPhone and iPad app o their new website here or on iTunes. £1 will be donated to the 3/11 Tsunami Photo Project. “Whatever is to become of books?” is a non-profit event.
