The Rado Star Prize is an established competition that has run in countries around the world, supporting young, unestablished designers and giving them a platform to present their work.
Targeting the next generation of young British designers and culminating in a spectacular exhibition and awards ceremony at designjunction 2017, the Rado Star Prize will this year explore the relationship between design and time, with the theme “Design meets Time”.
To enter, candidates can submit their interior, industrial and technology projects online at radostarprize.rado.com/uk. To be eligible, designers should present works, creations, prototypes, models or projects which have not yet been released to the public – and watch designs are excluded. The competition is open to final year graduates of design-related courses and emerging designers who do not yet work professionally.
Ten finalist projects, as selected by our jury, will be displayed at designjunction during the London Design Festival. One winner will receive a £5,000 cash prize as well as a Rado Ceramica – an iconic timepiece relaunched last year with a new look courtesy of renowned industrial designer Konstantin Grcic. Additionally, the public can select their favourite project from among the finalists by voting online. The winner of the public vote will also be awarded a Rado Ceramica.
designjunction returns to the spectacular King’s Cross site in September (21-24 September) for this year’s annual London Design Festival. Following the success of the 2016 edition, which attracted 27,000 visitors over five days, designjunction will expand across new King’s Cross locations for its flagship London show.
Taking place across five destinations including Cubitt House and Cubitt Park, The Canopy, Granary Square and The Crossing - a mix of global furniture, lighting, accessory, material and technology brands will exhibit alongside pop-up shops, installations and interactive features.
