Five fabulous Cockpit makers will be showing at 100% Design at Earls Court, the contemporary interior design exhibition from 23-26 September - as part of the Cockpit Trail.
Discover Claire Coles' installation at E61 featuring couture textural wall coverings. Her latest wallpaper collection transforms walls into individual works of art. Each design plays with texture and scale to create a rich and evocative feel to any setting. Claire uses fragments of hand-sourced vintage wallpapers with silks and leather; these are layered and intricately embroidered to create a range of different scenes, patterns and illustrations. Working with traditional wallpaper imagery such as florals and birds, Claire's designs grow and creep across the walls creating a romantic and dream like quality. http://www.clairecolesdesign.co.uk
At J70 Textile designer Chichi Cavalcanti will be presenting her new collection of rugs and wall hangings - 'Hidden Lines'. This latest series of works includes wool, linen and silk ranges and draws from Cavalcanti's collage and painting work, which explores composition, colour and light and their interaction with space. Cavalcanti's designs are characterised by her optical approach. Hidden structures are formed through the careful alignment of shapes and markings creating designs where absent elements often dominate. One of the highlights from the 'Hidden Line' collection is the Tejo rug, which is divided in three long strips. The design plays with pools of light and colour created by triangular and quadrilateral shapes of subtle shades and acid greens that guide the eye across the surface. http://www.chichicavalcanti.com
At E57 see quirky ceramics by Sena Gu. Her works, such as Cauliflower Vase, Cockatoo Jug, Calla Plate and Porcelain Flower - aim to make people smile. She plays with traditional every day objects adding an unexpected or organic element that stimulates an emotional connection between the product and the user. http://www.sena-gu.com
Shan Annabelle Valla will be showing her new 'Sprig' vase with Hidden Art at stand B10. Sprig is a stand-alone vase made from 3 joined glass vessels that have been shaped to look like flower stems. The clear glass of the vase draws attention to the stem of the fresh flowers, and the beauty of the flower is emphasized through the simplicity of display. Hand made, using no moulds, every vase has subtle variations to the next, giving each its own unique characteristics. http://www.shanvalla.co.uk.
Lauren Moriarty will be showcasing work inspired by the fairytale 'Little Red Cap' in 100% Grimm as part of The Peta Levi Bursary stand at J74 in association with Design Nation. http://www.grimmdesigners.com
