‘Curiosity’

A must see stop on the fringe of the Cockpit Trail is 'Curiosity' a pop-up shop curated by Catherine Hammerton.

Perfect for the magpie in all of us; 'Curiosity' - the new fleeting pop up concept shop, will be opening on 18 - 28th September on the busy Clerkenwell Road.  It celebrates the exceptional quality and craftsmanship of designers who are consciously choosing to keep standards high by manufacturing in Britain.

Sixteen established and rising star designers will be showing, including six of our Cockpit makers who will be launching wonderful new wares Catherine Hammerton, Lizzie Allen, Shan Annabelle Valla, Hannah Bedford, Francisca Prieto and Tamasyn Gambell.

Catherine Hammerton who is curating the event, will be showing her bottle garden cake plates and muglets in her much loved trademark vintage style.  Her multi-textured wallpaper will also be on show throughout the 'Curiosity' event. http://www.catherinehammerton.com

Lizzie Allen will be showing her Southbank Centre: 60th Anniversary of the Festival of Britain limited edition prints and wallpaper. Her use of vibrant colours and whimsical illustrations make her wallpapers popular with both kids and adults alike.  Each product is exclusive due to the printing process. Her limited edition print will launch in-store. http://www.lizzieallen.co.uk/  https://shop.southbankcentre.co.uk/

Hannah Bedford, will be showing her Berry and Granulation ranges with Curiosity. Her gold and silver jewellery collections are truly magpie material, inspired by organic growth patterns in the natural world. Hannah uses gold fusing and granulation to create raised, textured surfaces that entwine each piece and takes great care to work on the underside of a piece. The work is often led by these technical explorations, using them to play with scale, form and contrasting precious metals to create aesthetically beautiful forms.  http://www.hannahbedford.co.uk/

Award winner , Shan Annabelle Valla will be showing her luxury interior accessories. Shan uses a distinctive aesthetic style, which is seen throughout her collection. Making both functional and decorative glass and porcelain, Shan allows pattern, colour and texture to come to the surface of each of her pieces.  http://www.shanvalla.co.uk

Chilean-born designer Francisca Prieto, well known for her innovative experiments with typography, will be exhibiting new work from her Between Folds / Botanical Collection. One of the pieces, is made from Anne Pratt's book 'wild flowers' from 1852, where two hundred flowers interlink with extracts of their description. They are then folded in an origami fashion to produce a beautiful piece of hand-me-down artwork. http://www.blankproject.co.uk/

Textile designer, Tamasyn Gambell will be showing off her new interior collection including hand printed photo albums and chunky graphic cushions. Having won the start up NAFDAS award with Cockpit Arts, Tamasyns studio work focuses on producing luxurious and eco-considered designs.
