Exhibition

Ó, meaning 'from' in the Irish language, features beautifully designed products in stone, glass, ceramics, wood and textiles from over 20 designers who are passionate about materials, production and a strong sense of place, including Snug, Ceadogán, Aodh Furniture, Superfolk and Mourne Textiles.

The Design & Crafts Council of Ireland presents ‘Ó’, an exhibition of new work from Ireland’s designers and makers. ‘Ó', meaning ‘from’ in Gaelic, presents the story of Ireland as a source of creative ideas and making and explains how its craft heritage inspires new and contemporary design. The exhibition will feature the latest work from contemporary Irish designers such as Snug, Ceadogán, Aodh Furniture, Donna Bates and Hennessy & Byrne.

Three ateliers will be set up as micro-production spaces within the exhibition and designer makers from Ireland will demonstrate their making techniques throughout the four days of Tent. The ateliers will include leading Irish companies such as Mourne Textiles who will also have work in the exhibition.

Curated by Steven McNamara, ‘Ó’ marks the Design & Crafts Council of Ireland’s fourth annual exhibition at London Design Festival.

Ó is one of a number of Irish design events in London this year as part of Irish Design 2015 (ID2015), a year-long initiative backed by the Irish Government promoting and celebrating Irish design in Ireland and internationally. ID2015 is partnering with London Design Festival in presenting ‘The Ogham Wall’ at the V&A, an ambitious project designed by Grafton Architects, weaving narrative and culture with monumental design. During LDF, ID2015 will also be launching 'The Souvenir Project’, a collection of objects designed and made in Ireland specially commissioned by ID2015 and curated by Jonathan Legge, Makers & Brothers.
