British design commentator Max Fraser curates ‘The Revivalists’ - an exhibition at CAA during the London Design Festival.
‘The Revivalists’ is an exploration of one of the emerging 'tribes' on the London design scene, identified as part of Fraser’s newest publishing project, LONDON DESIGN GUIDE (available to buy through CAA). CAA has long been a leading light for contemporary craft in the UK (over 60 years), and now with the lines between craft, art and design becoming increasingly blurry, the Revivalists explores how these definitions meet, merge and migrate. Fraser explains "clearly there is a a wave of designers who are reacting against mass production and constant ‘newness’ and who are looking to re-appropriate the forgotten or overlooked; reinvigorate a genre from an earlier era; refresh a style, material, technique, or approach that is no longer in vogue; or reference heritage, locality, and provenance. These designers are The Revivalists."
All work is for sale and includes: furniture from Gareth Neal, Kay & Stemmer, Based Upon, Lee Broom, Olivier Droillard and Adam Rowe; metal from David Clarke and Lucian Taylor; leather vessels from Simon Hasan; glass from Mark Bickers and Sam Sweet ; ceramics from Kathleen Hills and Robert Dawson; as well as objects from artist Hans Stofer, designers Tom Dixon and Helen Amy Murray plus a number of emerging talents.
Opening times: 10am - 6pm, Monday to Saturday
