Pop-Up Shop

Join Industrial Facility in their studio for a Retail Facility Pop-Up Shop; a display of recent projects for Mattiazzi, Nava Design and OLuce; and the launch of Sam Hecht and Kim Colin's new book 'Locale', published by Herman Miller. The Pop-Up shop will offer a 10% discount during LDF.

Retail Facility is the official sales portal of Industrial Facility products. We aim to preview and make available new designs from Industrial Facility and often designs that are hard to find locally. This year sees the preview of the new Branca Stool, designed for Matiazzi; the Bottle Watch, designed for NAVA; and the launch of 'Why Locale', Industrial Facility's new book that covers the subject of work alongside design thinking.

During London Design Festival Pop Up (Sept 17-20), we'll be giving special discounts on catalogue products.

Industrial Facility

In 2002, partners Sam Hecht and Kim Colin formed London design office Industrial Facility to explore the junction between industrial design and the world around us. In its first 12 years it has gained international respect as one of the most progressive and creative design offices.

Through Industrial Facility's clear and focused approach to design, familiar objects are fundamentally investigated and contextualised so that their potential for progress is revealed. Areas of design include office and domestic furniture, electronics, consumer products, medical devices, exhibitions, transportation and clothing. Industrial Facility has received numerous design awards, including, in 2014, its fifth iF Hannover Gold Award for Formwork desk accessories (Herman Miller). In 2011, their Branca Chair (Mattiazzi) won the prestigious Designs of the Year Award for Furniture. In 2008, Sam Hecht became a Royal Designer for Industry and was nominated for the Prince Philip Designer's Prize. Industrial Facility's work is included in the permanent design collections of museums including MoMA, New York; Centre Pompidou, Paris; State Museum of Applied Arts, Munich; the Museum fur Kunsthandwerk, Frankfurt; San Francisco MoMA; Design Museum, London; and The Art Institute, Chicago. In 2008 a retrospective exhibition 'Industrial Facility; Some Recent Projects', was exhibited at the Design Museum, London alongside the studio's collection of 'Under a Fiver' objects.

In 2009, Hecht and Colin co-founded Retail Facility, an online shop that makes available the designs of Industrial Facility, some for the first time, and many of which were previously only sold in certain countries. In 2014, Retail Facility was relaunched to sell limited and special items from their archive that are rarely available, as well as new production products such as Formwork desk accessories. The Retail Facility pop-up shop open at their studio in Clerkenwell during London Design Festival 2014.

In Spring 2015 Hecht and Colin will curate an exhibition entitled 'Beauty as unfinished business' for the Biennale Internationale Design Saint-Étienne.
