Maker Mile

Maker Mile is one mile radius of maker spaces, studios, shops, galleries and workshops centred on where the canal crosses Mare street between Bethnal Green and London Fields stations.

There is a long history of fabrication in this area and the Maker Mile visualises the traditional artisans rubbing shoulders with future makers, architects practices sharing buildings with woodworkers, sculptors and painters.

The Maker Mile has 7 open workshops - Four Corners Photograpy, London Hackspace, Bikeworks, Carpentry Club, East London Printmakers, Fab Pub & Machines Room. Places often called 'makerspaces' where the public can become members and use specialist machines and tools such as 3D printers, enlargers or lathes.

The Maker Mile was launched in September 2015 with the support of Human Cities through the creative Europe programme of the European Union.
