“All the designers have pushed the use of marble into unexpected areas. Always useful yet at the same time sculptural. Faithful to the philosophy of making products totally in marble. A combination of high technology with the craftsmanship of the artisan” James Irvine
“Our dream is to use marble in everyday objects. At the same time we wish to preserve all the experience and the ancient manual techniques of our craftsmen. Some of the most brilliant international designers have participated with great enthusiasm to create a timeless collection of products.” Costanza and Mario Marsotto
Marsotto Edizioni provides a unique marriage between progressive stone-working technology and the rare experience and understanding of craftsmen.
The use of a rich, solid and natural material in context of the thought processes and creativity of distinguished designers provides for a covetable collection.
“The products convey a feel of modernity while preserving the luxury gathered from nature and enhanced by human interpretation” Costanza Marsotto
Works in marble by Alberto Meda, Claesson Koivisto Rune, Konstantin Grcic, James Irvine, Joel Berg, Jasper Morrison, Maddalena Casadei, Naoto Fukasawa, Ross Lovegrove and Thomas Sandell
Notes; Marble from Carrara mountains is 190 million years old. The revered material was used by the Greeks and the Roman, but in recent times it tends to be slab-cut for bathrooms and worktops. Marsotto utilises CNC milling equipment alongside hand working craftsmanship. Under the creative direction of James Irvine Marsotta Edizioni intends to provide a rounded collected of all-marble products including storage furniture, tables, seating, lights and accessories. The international group of designers involved has created for quite distinct personalities within the portfolio of 30 products.
Although not a limited edition, each piece is unique through the colour and texture of the stone, and is numbered with a microchip.
Opening times: 9.30 - 5.30pm
