London Biblio-geography: A Personal A-Z

Few and Far

Exhibition inspired by how one woman created London’s iconic A-Z map book, interpreted by Rachel Hazell.

Rachel Hazell the “Travelling Bookbinder” has been invited to create a range of graphic works for sale and to produce an exhibition with an atmosphere reminiscent of a cartographer’s studio full of grids, compartments, repetition and order.
The exhibition presents an exploration into the work of Mrs Pearsall who, frustrated at getting lost on the way to parties, walked every street of London on her own, thus creating, in 1936, the best-known atlas in Britain. Connecting a love of alphabets and cartography, Rachel exhibits a series of book-works incorporating particular areas of London and typographic letters all infused with the extraordinary spirit and words of ‘Mrs. P.’
With the generous permission of the Geographer’s A-Z Map Company.

To accompany the exhibition we will be holding a number of workshops with Rachel Hazell at Few and Far
