Light on India

Joss Graham presents new works from London artist and textile designer Nigel Atkinson.
A new series of panels that explore the effects of light on intricate hand embroidered and woven textiles designed in collaboration with makers in India and Japan.

The wall panels have a sculptural presence which draws the viewer into the subtleties of variation in light, movement, tone and depth, like the effect of sunlight on water and in nature.

This exhibition introduces the first pieces produced in collaboration with Rekiseisha, a historical maker of metal leaf surfaces based in Hiroshima. Metal leaf is painstakingly applied to the 3D relief surfaces of the textiles.

The exhibition will also include classic accessories: cushions, embroidered leather, silk and cashmere, throws, bedcovers and pashminas.

We will also premier a new collection of luxurious hand embroidered outdoor fabrics, a collaboration with Extex fabrics.

Joss Graham Gallery will be showing specially selected antique and
contemporary Asian Shining Cloths which complement Nigel Atkinson's work.

Established in 1980 Joss Graham Gallery is a well known destination for collectors, travellers, interior designers and all those who have a passion for handmade fabrics from around the world.
