Engineers at Ramboll have built a sculpture to transform the foyer of their London office. The timber gridshell installation is an exploration of how engineering, digital fabrication and imagination can fill the boundaries of the space. Beauty, buildability and structural performance drove the design of the sculpture, whose form was derived using in-house computational techniques. An accompanying exhibition tells the story of the sculpture’s design, fabrication and assembly.
