Achille Salvagni Atelier

Achille Salvagni was born in Rome in 1970. In 2002, he founded Achille Salvagni Architetti and has gained worldwide recognition for his award-winning luxury residences and super-yachts. In 2013, alongside his architectural practice, he founded Achille Salvagni Atelier, a studio devoted to the production of his limited-edition furniture and lighting. Following the success of the Atelier in both Italy and the USA, Salvagni opened Achille Salvagni Atelier at 12 Grafton Street in Mayfair to showcase his latest creations. The London Atelier draws from a selection of Salvagni’s iconic pieces and places them in an intimate domestic environment allowing collectors and design aficionados to experience in person the uncompromising craftsmanship that goes into each work. Using only the noblest materials; mahogany, rosewood, royal oak, laurel, onyx, bronze and gold to name just some, the works are realised by Rome’s rich collection of skilled artisans renowned for their traditional techniques found in the Vatican City and amongst the cabinet makers of the Quirinal Palace. Continuing this legacy, even the smallest details of the Atelier’s works are the result of an exacting attention to detail, scrupulous craftsmanship and historical reflection, from the patina selection through to custom door handles and hinges. With a couturier’s approach to design, Salvagni is dedicated to retaining authentic touches in his contemporary offering, bringing the decorative grandeur of the Roman Empire into wholly modern pieces.

Gallery FUMI

Gallery FUMI is a contemporary design gallery based in Mayfair, London, established in 2008 by Sam Pratt and Valerio Capo. The gallery focuses on high-level, conceptually and aesthetically audacious contemporary designers and artists; each one encompassing the value of craftsmanship, traditional techniques and innovated new technologies. Objects are usually hand made by the designer, in a small workshop context, or in small batch production by specialist crafts practitioners. Many use traditional techniques such as carving, glassblowing, cabinetry, lacquering, meticulous hand assemblage. Others would also disassemble, burn or apply digital technologies in their making. There is an emphasis on the satisfyingly tactile as well as the purely visual. Great significance is placed on the emotional as well as the practical value of craft. The directors have built enduring creative relationships with institutions, interior designers and collectors alike, and have gained a reputation for applying a very personal and original touch in their selection and curation. They run an ambitious programme of exhibitions alongside a presence at international design fairs.

sketch & Matter of Stuff

sketch’s home, 9 Conduit Street, was designed by James Wyatt in 1779 and has previously been the headquarters of the Royal Institute of British Architects before later becoming the London Atelier of Christian Dior. sketch was inaugurated in 2002 by restaurateur Mourad Mazouz and three Michelin starred chef Pierre Gagnaire, as a destination for food, art and music and continues to contribute to the building’s heritage as a destination for experimentation in design, art and architecture. The site consists of the Lecture Room & Library, the Parlour, the Glade, the East Bar, and the Gallery. The Lecture Room & Library was awarded its first Michelin star in 2005, in 2012, the restaurant won its second Michelin star, which it retains today. Over the past decade, due to Mazouz’s commitment to art and design, the venue has hosted over fifty exhibitions of artists’ moving image including work by Carsten Nicolai, John Baldessari, Jonas Mekas, Mary Ellen Bute and more recently Turner Prize winner Martin Creed and Turner Prize Nominee David Shrigley as part of a new long-term programme of artist-designed restaurant for the Gallery. MOS is founded by architects and curators Simona Auteri and Sofia Steffenoni, who realise the importance of the people behind the products they represent and the enormous amount of time, knowledge and expertise that is spent developing a finished product by artists, designers and fabricators. Their aim is to develop a community of designers and manufacturers with a culture where craftsmanship is at the heart of any creation, be it a space or a product. The name Matter of Stuff reflects the company’s passion for materiality and the importance of prime materials as the base of everyday objects. As well as an e-commerce site, the MOS website is an informative platform where customers and design lovers are able to get insight into the creating process behind the objects on sale. Matter of Stuff’s range of products combine cutting edge techniques with traditional craftsmanship and creativity. Founders Simona Auteri and Sofia Steffenoni comment: "‘We select designers and manufacturers on the base of their talent and know how with the vision of creating a community where new collaborations are made possible. We are so used to having fast accessibility to so many products that we hardly stop and think about how that particular object was made, assuming it just came out of a box. Matter of Stuff challenge that assumption, and want to unveil the story and process of making behind each product we sell.” Matter of Stuff takes on a selection of architecture and interior design projects, offering its clients a fully comprehensive consultation, from architecture to interior design and furnishing services. MOS caters to the very highest level of excellence, tailoring exclusive concepts to the client’s personal vision and requirement. Founders Simona Auteri and Sofia Steffenoni are UK registered architects.

The Foundry Gallery exhibit new contemporary artwork that explores relationships between art and architecture. Established as part of Le Lay Architects in London’s ‘Chelsea Design Quarter’ the gallery forms the foundation of the practices research into how architectural ideas are conceived and how people engage with buildings and structures. Each year we select three artists to exhibit new art work in the gallery. Each artist has put forward a proposal for either a new body of work or a continuation of current work which fits the galleries ethos. We work for a year with each artist giving them a supportive framework to explore their working practice and build an exhibition. Above all, we support the making of new art. **Our program also consists of us renting the gallery space to more established artists, galleries and curators who hire the gallery space in between our exhibition program. This income enables us to continue working with the artists we support.

Tracey Neuls

Tracey Neuls is a vital force in contemporary footwear design and known as 'the designers designer.' In a market saturated by sameness, Neuls always breaks the mould and presents something unique and intriguing. The way Neuls designs is getting rarer. She's doesn't simply choose components off a factory shelf, she designs every detail herself. All toe shapes and sculptural heels are signature to her. Bridging the gap between art and design, her footwear is conceptual yet wearable and for the past 16 years has succeeded in designing shoes that are comfortable and beautiful, two elements that aren't always found together. 'Good design is something you feel as much as you see' - Tracey Neuls

Ally Capellino

Satchels, totes and rucksacks for men and women who like their design to come without dictates. That’s the backbone of Ally Capellino, the accessories label so unlike your average fashion brand that, in the beginning, its name was never even intended to stick. A renegade from the outset, founder Alison Lloyd’s debut collection of T-shirts after the 1980 Moscow Olympics scandal. After heading up young British design during that decade, her characterful classics have since brought her label international acclaim and cult status among like-minded customers. More than 30 years on, Ally Capellino accessories have taken their place on the global stage, reliant not on trends, but on timelessness and quality of design, and discreetly representative of a discerning type of modern consumer. Lloyd’s faithful fans return time and again not for this season’s It-bag, but for unassuming and expertly made pieces that fit into their urban existence. An iconoclastic sense of fun and witty irreverence abides in bags named for Cabinet, Conservative and New Labour politicians, and in the brand’s quintessentially British outlook. Numerous global stockists two London shops, a collaboration with the city’s first Ace Hotel, a long running Artists range for Tate and 2010’s major retrospective at the Wapping Project mark Ally Capellino as one of the UK’s most successful homegrown brands. Not only that, but there is an integrity to the range, with production and practicality as high up on Alison Lloyd’s list as aesthetics. British design and waxed cotton, Italian veg tanned leather and attention to detail make up the unique mix of quirk and quality that is Ally Capellino.
