Confluence: The future for Europe’s creative economies

Designersblock

A one day conference exploring key issues and opportunities facing Europe's creative economies, plus an exhibition

Designersblock together with the European Commission in the UK present a one day conference exploring key issues and opportunities facing Europe's creative economies. Creativity will be the driver of future European economies but is it understood? In what ways will its impact be felt by traditional industries and infrastructures? The digital economy is already changing the marketplace for ideas. How will we be affected, as consumers and service providers? Where will we work and how can creativity revitalise our cities? What can Government and higher education learn if it is to effectively support entrepreneurialism and the growth of the creative economy? What does a new generation of creatives think? The day promises lively debate and original thought, involving 16 speakers from industry, education, government and across the creative sector.

An accompanying exhibition in the '12 Star Gallery' has been curated by designersblock. Selecting one object from each year, showcased at designersblock events since its launch in 1998, they offer insights into how contemporary products anticipate and inspire cultural change. It covers a period when creativity has moved from the side lines to centre stage in the collective imagination and in our economies.
