Ceramics in the City returns to the Geffrye Museum this September, once again bringing together an impressive range of selected potters from around the country, a mix of both leading names and rising talents.
An exciting array of work will be on sale, from classic tableware, lamps and other domestic objects to purely decorative and distinctive one-off pieces, showcasing a wide variety of techniques, styles, textures and colour. Delicate, thrown porcelain will be displayed alongside earthy stoneware and imaginative hand-built pieces; coll white glazes will provide contrast to colourful painted vessels; and practical items such as lamps will brighten the display. Prices will range from £10 for mugs and other small objects to several hundred pounds for large-scale work.
The show will take place in the museum's contemporary gallery. Visitors will have the opportunity not just to browse and buy but also to meet the makers and watch free demonstrations. Craft activities will be held to entertain children on Saturday and Sunday.
A special preview evening will be held on Thursday 22 September from 6-8.30pm. The restaurant will be open serving light supper, drinks and snacks.
