The British Land Celebration of Design Awards is held every year to recognise and celebrate leading design gures for their outstanding contribution to London and the design industry. Past recipients include Zaha Hadid, Marc Newson, Richard Rogers, Paul Smith, and Thomas Heatherwick.

This year, an exhibition in the Clore Study Room at the V&A will celebrate the work of all four 2017 winners. Opening on Saturday 16 September, the winners will display a selection of their work, before receiving their medals at The British Land Celebration of Design Awards dinner on Monday 18th September at the Gladstone Library within the National Liberal Club.

The four categories celebrated within the exhibition are:
1. The ‘Panerai London Design Medal’ , which is bestowed upon an individual who has distinguished themselves within the industry and demonstrated consistent design excellence.
2. The ‘Design Innovation Medal’, supported by Tanqueray, which celebrates entrepreneurship in all its forms, both locally and internationally. It honours an individual where design innovation lies at the core of their development and success.
3. The ‘Emerging Talent Medal’ recognises an individual who has made an impact on the design scene within five years of graduation.
4. The ‘Lifetime Achievement Medal’ honours an individual who has made significant and fundamental contributions to the design industry over their career.

London Design Festival

Over nine days in September, the London Design Festival feature hundreds of events taking place across London, showcasing the city's pivotal role in global design. The London Design Festival 2017 will be held 16-24 September, featuring over 500 Partners, Landmark Projects, and V&A Commissions.
