The British Institute of Interior Design, formerly known as the British Interior Design Association is the pre-eminent body for interior design. The BIID is a membership organization and exists to promote and support the interior design professions. The BIID is committed to the advancement of the professional practice of interior design and to the creation of a comprehensive vision for the design challenges of the future. The BIID breakfast seminar “Chic to Chic: Crossing The Pond” featuring New York interior designer Harry Schnaper and product designer Gareth Devonald-Smith, kicks of this year’s Decorex International. Gareth Devonald Smith is a designer/maker/artist with a studio/showspace in Brixton. He designs and makes modern chandeliers, screens, sconces, lamp bases, and art objects in silver/gold plated copper set with semi precious stones. The Lollipop Chandelier he recently created for Porta Romana is familiar to most of us.
Harry Schnaper, an American with an expansive personality, studied interior design at Chelsea College of Art & Design. Taking his qualifications back to New York he worked for several years for high profile interior designers before setting up his own practice on Madison Avenue in l989. His work has style and glamour.
