Artisan Glass & Mirror Finishes: New Exhibition & Open Studio

To celebrate the expansion of Rupert Bevan’s artisan glass and mirror studio, this year's exhibition in the Festival will unveil many new decorative and artisan glass finishes, exploring some of the endless ways through which glass and mirrors can be used to create stunning and striking interiors.

Once again the Rupert Bevan Showroom will be hosting a pop-up exhibition for the London Design Festival - this time focusing on new decorative glass and artisan mirror finishes. These are currently being created and will be developed in in our newly expanded Shropshire Glass Studio over the summer - to be unveiled for the very first time at the Festival! This will be an exclusive opportunity to preview exciting new mirrored surfaces and decorative glass designs as soon as they become available for commission.

The exhibition will take place in the Lonsdale Road showroom, already home to a vast and varied sample library showcasing the spectrum of different materials and finishes Rupert Bevan works with. Many of these finishes are completely unique, and have been developed exclusively within the company. Rupert and the team work directly with clients to create new and custom-made finishes to meet the specific needs of each project— this allows the decorators to take their creativity in design a level further, and in a way re-conceptualises the notion of ‘bespoke’ by allowing a more involved customisation of all aspects of the piece.

To complement the glass finishes, the showroom exhibition will also feature a new prototype of the incredible cocktail cabinet we originally created for Soho Beach House Miami. The Rupert Bevan team are busy remaking this timeless, glamorous and ever-popular piece, with its antiqued mirror clad exterior accentuated by the dark walnut and bronze-patinated brass, and dazzling interior filled with exquisite bespoke features. The cocktail cabinet will also be transformed into a fully functioning cocktail bar for some of the Festival, so if you happen to come at the right time you might just get to try it out and whip up a cocktail of your choice!

Visitors can also drop in to the open studio to witness some highly skilled craftspeople in action. The Rupert Bevan team of artists and specialist finishers combine traditional methods and materials with contemporary materials and techniques, it can be a fascinating and mesmerizing experience watching how the surfaces are brought to life and transformed into extraordinary interior finishes. Demonstrations will be held to provide viewers with a deeper insight into the processes involved (dates and times for these will be available on the Rupert Bevan and Queens Park Design District websites closer to the time: /

There will be an exclusive drinks reception and street party for PR and industry contacts on the evening on Thursday 24th September, in collaboration with other partners across the Queens Park Design District. All press involved in design/interiors/lifestyle are welcome, and all other guests by invite only.
