39 at The Covent Garden Piazza

39 is a chandelier composed of multiple trumpet-shaped pendants powered with LED spot lights. The glass trumpet shapes, which have contrasting colours on the inside and outside surfaces, are created using a "popping" technique, whereby hot blown glass spheres are punctured and spun simultaneously, so that no two spheres are alike. These glass trumpet shapes are fitted with custom-designed brass housings with high powered LED lamps inside, designed to create, both a directional spot light emitting from the depth of the piece, and a diffuse halo of light inside the body of the trumpet. The brass housings have telescoping arms allowing composition and adjustment of the multiple pendant pieces.

Bocci will present 39 for the first time at The Covent Garden Piazza during the London Design Festival 2011.
