Hand drawn: Domenic Lippa talks about creating the identity for the 2010 London Design Festival
Domenic Lippa: "This was Beatrice [Blumenthal]. We were thinking about how designers start the process. I said, 'It's almost like mark-making,' and this might show my age because you start of with a pencil mark, a hand-written thing... Beatrice started painting numbers. We were thinking that we should be about celebrating the numbers - about giving numerical information. How many events. The date. How many visitors...
"Beatrice created an alphabet too. We had to set it all by hand which was a complete nightmare, but it was a nice, expressive piece of counterpoint to the previous one which had been very rigid."
The London Design Festival can only happen because we have such great support.
