It's a piece of work that contains an underlying narrative of one technical format overwriting another, destroying it in the process

Such a great concept. Paul Cocksedge converts old vinyly long players into old fashioned His Master's Voice-style megaphones for your iPod. As much as creating a piece of lo-fi technology, it's a piece of work that contains an underlying narrative of one technical format overwriting another, destroying it in the process.

This is Paul Cocksedge Studio's description of their event on 20 September:

During a live performance to music, designer Paul Cocksedge will be transforming old vinyl LPs into elegant vinyl speakers that amplify sound from smartphones through their shape alone - no need for wires or electricity. Old LPs gathering dust are given new life - and the music lives on! Visitors are encouraged to bring their own 12" record to see it transformed into a unique object. Speakers will be available to buy at the event at £25, a special introductory price during the festival (£35 thereafter).

Cocksedge also created Drop for the London Design Festival 2010.

I love the textile field, especially after walking and standing 4 hours in the V&A. I'd love to see it stay, and possibly with a few more vibrant colours added to the palette. Mian

I went to John Pawson's exhibition at Design museum last year.
His sophisticated works were very impressive and inspiring.
I am looking forward to seeing this installation very much.

I like it very much!
It is much easier to find an exact place and information.
I will surely use this calendar for LDF this year!

I love this calendar - it's really comprehensive and completely relevant. It's the first place I go when looking for something to do at the weekend. Thanks LDF!
