You must take no longer than an hour. OK, so we've no way of telling if you're cheating or not, but we trust you

If you're a typographer or graphic designer, we've a one hour design challenge for you.

We're offering no prizes – this is just a bit of fun for the long winter evenings – but we will publish the five designs we like best on the London Design Festival website and our Facebook page alongside a little information about you and your design practice.

Back in 2009 Pentagram did a great campaign for us based around quotations from major design figures. We'd like to revisit that idea by asking you to design a simple A4 poster based around one of the quotes you'll find on this website:

Design Was Here: 80+ Inspiring quotes about design

The rules are simple:

• Choose ONE quote from the list and find an original, impactful way of representing that graphically

• You must take no longer than an hour. OK, so we've no way of telling if you're cheating or not, but we trust you

• All designs must be in portrait A4 format at 300 dpi (2480px x 3508px)

•.Competition ends December 9 2010

• Email your entries to william.shaw@londondesignfestival.com.

OK? We look forward to seeing what you're up to, and publishing your entries.

Below are a few of the posters Pentagram did for us:

I love the textile field, especially after walking and standing 4 hours in the V&A. I'd love to see it stay, and possibly with a few more vibrant colours added to the palette. Mian

I went to John Pawson's exhibition at Design museum last year.
His sophisticated works were very impressive and inspiring.
I am looking forward to seeing this installation very much.

I like it very much!
It is much easier to find an exact place and information.
I will surely use this calendar for LDF this year!

It collaborated very well with installantion of Ron Arad called curtain call at Roundhouse.

I love this calendar - it's really comprehensive and completely relevant. It's the first place I go when looking for something to do at the weekend. Thanks LDF!
