Make Me Want You: Seduction by Design

This exhibiton will highlight outstanding work by University of the Arts London alumni who studied either Communication or Graphic Design, and are now working in a subversive way.

University of the Arts London consists of six internationally renowned colleges, Camberwell College of Arts, Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, Chelsea College of Art and Design, London College of Communication and London College of Fashion and Wimbledon College of Art.

Mathmos New Shop Installation & Lucky Dip Party

For the first time, on Wednesday 19 September Mathmos will reveal their new Hoxton home, complete with 'Boxscape' shop installation designed by Simon Maidment.

New Moves

New Moves will be a unique presentation of 70 prototypes designed by students of the Royal College of Art design department directed by professor Ron Arad and Senior Tutor Daniel Charny in collaboration with Ernesto Gismondi, the president of Artemide.

From the internationally recognised roundel logo through to posters, surface design and graphics, David will illustrate how the brand has evolved over the years to become part of London's visual identity.

Sitting Pretty

Sitting Pretty' is an adventurous exhibition of portrait photography by Jonathan Root. Renowned for his stylised and unique depictions of famed subjects, he has photographed contemporary designers and architects for this innovative collaboration between Rabih Hage and Blueprint Magazine. Opening Reception 2007

The London Design Festival officially launched its annual design extravaganza at a gala reception in the ballroom of the newly renovated Royal Festival Hall ballroom on 17 September.

Over 800 visitors witnessed the award of the Festival’s first Design Medal to the architect Zaha Hadid.   Read More

 


Tips for The London Design Festival

We thought we'd provide some tips on how to make the most of London' annual design moment!

Some of the annual shows have been running longer than the Festival. In particular 100% Design London, Desingersblock, Decorex. They continue to innovate and evolve, and should not be missed! Newer shows are also starting to develop their own heritage within the Festival such as New Designers Selection, the Eureka Collection, Super Design Market and of course Deptford Design should also not be missed - they keep getting better & better!  Read More

Writer's group 26 partnered JCDecaux to use their billboards to demonstrate the power of language in design. The 26 pairs have each responded to the challenge of writing stories of up to 6 words.  Each of these stories will appear on the London Design Festival homepage throughout the festival period and the full collection will also be available on a special page. (Available from the start of the festival.)
